Murder Mysteries
Last year we took part in 4 successful Murder Mystery’s on the Blunsdon and Cricklade Railway, and recently helped to celebrate a 60th Birthday. A group of 8-10 cast members arrive in character, act out and follow a scenario by ad libbing, dropping hints and sometimes having arguments. The guests are given brief descriptions of each character; they have to become detectives working out who each character is, why a particular person is murdered and the eventual murderer.A lot of fun is had by both actors and guests. If you are interested in taking part as a cast member or a guest then please contact us. Our next date at the railway is June 24th.

HADS Drama Kids
If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise! And should you inadvertantly wander into Silver Threads Hall on a Monday between 7 and 8, then you're sure of an even bigger one!! Alternate Mondays see the meeting of the HADS DramaKids workshops for children aged between 8 and 16. The purpose of these workshops is to develope drama skills, encourage budding performers and provide an awareness of backstage roles and requirements. Within a relaxed and informal framework, the children have the opportunity to become involved in public performance work, write and perform their own material, and take part in various exercises and games to enhance their skills and knowledge. Recently parents were invited to view three short (!) performances by the children of plays written by themselves. Decisions regarding props and costumes were made by the children, as were any choices of scenery. It was a fun evening, providing for the parents an opportunity to see what their offspring had been up to, and giving the children a chance to show off all their hard work. Wth the summer holidays almost upon us, workshops have ceased until September when they will recommence initially with skill developement sessions, followed in about November by rehearsals for the upcoming pantomime! Not unsurprisingly, none of this can take place without adult support. There are three regular helpers - Hilary, Lesley and Sandra, who are ably assisted by Alison. However more help is always needed! If you feel that you would like to get involved please contact Lesley who will be happy to offer any further information required. Has Highworth Got Talent ?
I should say so! HADS organised a Talent Show on 29 May and chose 15 acts to perform on Warneford school stage in front of 4 judges.Acts ranged between musical, dancing and comedy and ages were from 8 to 80. Fortunately the acts were all superb, but this left a very difficult decision for the judges and 2 nearly came to blows regarding who should be the winner.
Eventually 3 acts were chosen. first prize of £100 went to Eleanor Williams singing a spine tingling 'Ave Maria', whilst the 2 runners up were Kelly Keogh a very talented an energetic Irish dancer and Mervyn Penny who bought the house down with a singing, comedy act about a cat that died and came back to life.
We were all surprised at the number of people who turned out to support the acts and the show. The audience was fantastic and seemed to love all the acts, with the 'clapometer' showing a maximum score for most of the night. Melanie Duff, the newly appointed Mayor of Highworth, presented the prizes.
